Ashton is an associate at King Defence. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Honours with distinction) in Psychology from Grant MacEwan University. She completed her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Alberta and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2021.

Ashton was born and spent her early years in the Yukon before living in various towns and cities throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. During law school, she was active with Student Legal Services where she volunteered and worked as a Day Leader. During her final year of law school, Ashton worked part-time at a prestigious criminal law firm where she went on to complete her Articles and then worked as an Associate.

Ashton joined King Defence in the summer of 2022. She practices exclusively in the area of criminal defence including Criminal Code offences, drug (CDSA), and regulatory offences. She also has significant experience and interest in assisting individuals who struggle with mental illness. Ashton is a member of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association.

Ashton believes that she is part of the helping profession. She understands that facing criminal charges can be stressful and overwhelming. She is dedicated to ensuring that her clients understand the process and that they feel heard and respected. Ashton knows that the lawyer/client relationship depends on trust and respect, she will give you straightforward advice and ensure that you understand your options. Ashton’s objective is to get the best results for her clients.
